Capt. Roosevelt Johnson is a nearly 25-year veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and oversees the Santa Clarita Valley Station.
His career with the Sheriff’s Department began in November of 1990. After graduating from the Sheriff’s Training Academy as a Deputy Sheriff, he was assigned to the Pitchess Detention Center, North Facility, Century Station, West Hollywood Station, Custody Administration and the Training Bureau. Upon his promotion to Sergeant in 2005, Captain Johnson was assigned to Lennox Station, Custody Operations Division Headquarters as a Chief’s Aide and Internal Affairs Bureau. In August 2009, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to North County Correctional Facility, Altadena Station and North Patrol Division Headquarters as an Executive Aide.
He Johnson holds a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. He is also a graduate of the 254th Session of the FBI National Academy.
Capt. Johnson is a resident of the Santa Clarita Valley. He is married to his wife, Belinda, and they have a son who is attending college in Texas. In his spare time he enjoys running, reading, golfing, and teaching.
As CEO and co-owner of AMS Fulfillment, Ken oversees 4-Distribution Centers in the Santa Clarita Commerce Center, with additional facilities in Buena Park and Vancouver. Employing over 130 people, AMS manages inventory and ships products on behalf of more than 40 Wholesale and Retail clients, including Nike’s UMBRO USA brand, Columbia Sportswear (Marketing Materials) and TOM’s Shoes.
Ken started his career with a teaching degree and formalized his education with an MBA from the Univ. of Hartford in 1991. Ken is a 5 year volunteer with the Sheriff’s Dept. SCV Search & Rescue Team actively participating in Search & Rescue missions, chairing the annual fund raising Golf Tournament and managing the team’s community 12-Week, 12-Hike Challenge. He recently received his 1,000 hour Sheriff Dept. volunteer pin, and in 2008 was a “Los Angeles County Volunteer of the Year”. Currently the President of the SCV Sheriff’s Foundation, Ken is actively involved with several other local not-for-profit community organizations. In years past he held world records for both the Double and Triple Ironman triathlon competitions. Ken and his wife, Betty-Lou, have proudly resided in Santa Clarita for the past 12 years.
As founder and Chairman of the Board for Global Protective Services, Inc. (GPS), Jim oversees operations stretching from Valencia, CA to Honolulu, HI. Employing over 100 employees, GPS provides specialized security services ranging from security patrols to executive protection and corporate security/safety training throughout the world.
Jim is the Special Agent in Charge for the Department of Justice – Bureau of Investigation. He is in command of the Los Angeles Regional Office and Riverside Regional Office with a footprint stretching from San Luis Obispo County to the international border. With over 20 years of law enforcement experience, Jim brings real world experience to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation. In 2007, Jim was awarded the Attorney General’s Medal for Meritorious Service after his efforts in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in the City of New Orleans. In 2003, Jim was awarded the Attorney General’s Peace Officer of the Year Award for his dedication and efforts specific to interstate and international criminal investigations.He has also received the following significant government awards during his career: California State Assembly Resolution; California State Senate Resolution; City of Los Angeles Citation & Commendation; Mexico Federal Attorney General Commendation; State of Baja California, Mexico Attorney General’s Commendation; Croatia Federal Attorney General’s Citation & Commendation; & United States Department of Justice Commendation.
Jim attended California Lutheran University where he earned an MPA degree. He has been a resident of the Santa Clarita Valley since 1998 and lives in Valencia with his wife and two children. Jim currently serves as the Vice President of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Foundation.
Neil Fischer is the Director of Finance and Administration for Hadassah Southern California, a 100-year old 501 (c) (3) charitable organization. Mr. Fischer has an MBA and has over 33-years of experience in the business world working in not-for-profit organizations, mortgage banking, health care, public relations and communications.
Mr. Fischer has been a volunteer at the Santa Clarita station since 1999 as a Volunteer on Patrol, present chairperson of the Community Advisory Committee, Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT) instructor, Disaster Communications Service and is a member of one of the specialized units for the LASD Emergency Operations Bureau. He was recently named as the chairperson for the Foundation’s Advisory Committee.
Mr. Fischer is active in numerous charities and a member of the Love Ride Foundation Board of Directors; Board member of Downed Officers Support Foundation as well as the University of Louisville Alumni Club of Southern California, He is also a member of Olive Crest Board of Trustees.
Mr. Fischer is a recent recipient of the University of Phoenix Southern California Alumni Community Service Award.
He has resided in Santa Clarita since 1991 and has a 27-year old daughter.
As the Owner and CEO of Tri-Valley Investigations, a full-service investigation agency headquartered in Santa Clarita, California, Cookie Schwartz Diaz oversees a staff of employees and sub-contractors who conduct a variety of corporate, insurance, background, financial and other types of investigations. Cookie is also a Certified Fraud Specialist.
She has been actively involved with the SCV Sheriff’s Foundation since June 2005, where she has served as a Director, Vice President and is currently the Secretary of the Board of Directors.
Cookie has served on several other non-profit Boards and organizations over the years and, along with her husband, Frank, now does volunteer work for the SCV Boys and Girls Club and various other local charities.
She has resided in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1970, where she raised her three sons and is now the proud grandmother of her toddler grandson.
Don Fleming was born and raised in Texas. He moved to Southern California after he was discharged from the USMC. He and his wife, Cheri, have an entrepreneurial spirit and have owned various businesses; however, the car business “hooked” them in 1985. In 1997, Cheri and Don purchased Valencia Acura. At that time Valencia Acura ranked dead last nationally in sales and customer satisfaction. With no place to go but up, Don and Cheri began treating customers the way they would want to be treated, and became a vital force in the Santa Clarita community. Today Valencia Acura is in the top 25 Acura dealerships in sales and one of the highest ranking customer satisfaction dealerships in the country. Valencia Acura’s sales penetration in their primary market area and customer loyalty ranks among the highest in the nation. Don also serves on Acura’s corporate Triad Committee that helps develop national marketing. He was the 2013 recipient of the Los Angeles County 1st Marine Division Associate Semper Fidelis Award.

Moe Hafizi has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley since 1984. He has been married to Linda for 34 years and has a 22 year old son named Alex. The Hafizi family work together in their publishing company where they publish two local magazines. The Magazine of Santa Clarita celebrated 20 years in 2010 and élite Magazine is now 8 years old.
He attended Manchester Polytechnic in England and completed a BSc Degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing. Prior to his move to the United States in 1984, he worked with major organizations throughout the UK and published magazines and newspapers on their behalf.
Over the past 20 years Moe has been involved with many non-profit organizations both on a personal and business level. As co-publisher of The Magazine of Santa Clarita and élite, he has supported many SCV charitable organizations with donations to help promote their events. Moe and his wife Linda have personally financially supported Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, The Child and Family Center, The SCV Senior Center and the SCV Youth Project, they have also donated auction items for events. Through the magazines, other non-profits he has been able to support are the American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Club, Single Mothers Outreach, Domestic Violence, Assistance League, Circle of Hope, Zonta, Soroptimist Greater SCV, Michael Hoefflin and many more.

Jill Mellady founded Mellady Direct Marketing in Santa Clarita in 1986 with her husband, Jim. In her role as company president, Jill skillfully guides the company’s sales and marketing efforts, continuously enhancing its impressive roster of clients by combining timely, accurate service with an abiding commitment to customer satisfaction. Mellady Direct Marketing has become such a valuable asset to the Santa Clarita Valley (SCV) that the company garnered the Valley Industrial Association’s (VIA) 2004 Rising Star Business of the Year, and in 2014 was named Small Business of the Year at the SCV Leadership Awards.
In 1991, Jill earned an Associate in Science in Business Administration from College of the Canyons (COC) and has remained committed to the College throughout her career, now serving on the Executive Board. At COC, Jill served as Chair of the COC Foundation from 2009 to 2012, where she also sat on the executive board. Currently, Jill is the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Foundation and is a dedicated leader of the Culinary Institute Capital Campaign. Additionally, she serves on the Measure M Bond Committee and has been an advocate for the College’s many key initiatives for nearly a decade. In the past, Jill has been chair of the Chancellor’s Business Council. So dedicated is Jill to the College that she was named Alumna of the Year and, on October 28, 2011, she was inducted into COC’s Hall of Fame.
As a devoted community volunteer, Jill works tirelessly for the benefit of the Santa Clarita Valley. She is a founding member of the SCV Economic Development Corporation and serves on the boards of the SCV Sheriff Foundation and College of the Canyons Foundation, and the Executive Board of the Valley Industry Association (VIA). Jill previously served on the boards of the Child & Family Center of SCV, the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer, the National Association of Women Business Owners, the SCV Repertory Theatre and the United Way SCV Advisory Board. Jill also founded the Nonprofit Leadership Committee and SCV Legacy Giving. She is a member of the SCV Chamber of Commerce and VIA.
Jill brings her skills as an accomplished marketing professional to her volunteer roles, helping organizations reach the community, share their messages and expand their ability to assist local residents. For her dedication, Jill was named Volunteer of the Year for the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and was nominated by COC, the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and the Child & Family Center for SCV Woman of the Year.
Jill and Jim have two children, Stephanie and Brendan.
Todd Stevens is a 19-year veteran of Occidental Petroleum Corporation and most recently served as Vice President, Corporate Development from August 2012. Prior to his most recent post, Todd was Vice President, California Operations, of Oxy Oil & Gas from April 2008 to September 2012 and Vice President, Acquisitions and Corporate Finance, of Occidental Petroleum Corporation from October 2004 to August 2012. During his career with Occidental he led most of Occidental’s growth initiatives and his responsibilities included mergers & acquisitions, evaluating and developing finance-related strategic and business opportunities, restructuring alternatives and asset dispositions, land management activities and worldwide exploration activities.
Todd has managed or been involved with over $25 billion in merger and acquisition transactions. He earned a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California after graduating from the United States Military Academy, West Point, with an Engineering Management degree.
Todd serves as a Director on the following boards: Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley Foundation, Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission Advisory Board, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Foundation, USC Marshall School of Business Corporate Advisory Board, USC Viterbi School of Engineering Advisory Board, and the Board of Counselors, Master of Business for Veterans Programs at USC.
As a Senior Manager of Quality at Boston Scientific Neuromodulation (BSN), Jessica Lee oversees a team of engineers who ensure the safety and compliance of implantable medical devices developed for patients with chronic pain or Parkinson’s tremors.
She is also co-captain of the BSN Women’s Network, an Employee Resource Group that promotes the professional development of women and raises awareness of women’s health. Partnerships between the BSN Women’s Network and the community have included the College of the Canyons Women’s Conference, Single Mothers Outreach, and the Domestic Violence Center.
Her interest in the medical field was sparked when she sustained an injury playing women’s rugby at Cornell University; she continued this interest by earning her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California, as well her EMT certification from the College of the Canyons.
This winding journey also led to her join the Sheriff’s Dept. SCV Search & Rescue Team, a volunteer group that responds 24 hours a day, seven days a week to calls involving vehicles over the side, earthquakes, lost hikers, power outages, and missing people of all ages, along with rescuing people or recovering evidence in locations involving challenging terrain. All of the team members are EMTs.
Jessica has resided in Santa Clarita since 2008.
His transportation career began in 1985 as a trainee in ABF Freight Systems management program. His career progressed to FedEx’ Custom Critical division, serving as a regional director of sales for 6 years. In 2006 Tony founded Accurate Freight Systems and as President has watched the company grow to 17 employees with over 500 customers. Accurate Freight provides transportation and logistics services to help companies improve their supply chain processes. Tony has been a sponsor of the SCV Search and Rescue programs since 2006.
Donald Spiller is the Director of Park Operations for Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor. Donald oversees Admissions, Guest Relations, Ride Operations, Entertainment, Park Services, Parking, Security, Water Park Operations, and a staff of over 1,000 team members.
Donald has more than 20 years of experience in the Theme Park industry. He has helped organize fund-raising walks for Cure Kids Cancer and the Arthritis Foundation, both held at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Donald is a proud resident of Santa Clarita where he resides with his wife, Angela, and their four children.

Retired for the last 20 years, Elliott spends much of his time doing volunteer and philanthropic work for worthwhile causes. He began his professional career 60 years ago, joining the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department while still in his senior year in the University of Southern California School of Public Administration.
After a brief stint with the Sheriff’s Department while Eugene Biscailuz was sheriff, Elliott passed the required examination for a Private Investigator’s License, and began an agency specializing in insurance fraud and auto accident reconstruction, that would grow to some 30-35 employees/investigators by the time of his retirement from E.S. Wolfe & Associates, Licensed Private Investigations, established 1958.
Graduating from the San Fernando Valley College of Law (now University of La Verne College of Law) in 1967, he also held positions as President of the California Association of Licensed Investigators, Vice President of the National Council of Investigative and Security Services, and Chairman of the Board of the California Association of Professional Process Servers.
After retirement Elliott moved to Palm Desert, where he spent 12 years in public service, as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (for abused children) and as a consultant to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, while also serving on the board, and as president, of the Sun City Palm Desert Homeowners Association. A Valencia resident since 2006, he lives with his wife, Judith, and is near to most of their children and 11 grandchildren.
Cliff Wong began his work career in the aerospace industry with McDonald-Douglas in prototype production. While working fulltime and attending college, Cliff earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education plus a life teaching credential, and later a specialized vocational credential from UCLA.
After leaving the aerospace industry, Cliff taught high school for the El Segundo Unified School District and became the Department Chairperson for the Applied Arts Department and then Director of Vocational Education. During some of the summers while teaching, Cliff worked as a Mercedes-Benz technician at the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Hermosa Beach. Cliff later left teaching and joined Mercedes-Benz of North America as a field representative and called on dealerships in Southern California. Cliff later joined the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Santa Monica and became the Service & Parts Director.
After over 20 years with Mercedes-Benz, Cliff left Mercedes-Benz and started his own business, KC Specialty Products, and became a master distributor for Pelican Products. With a retail store and warehouse in West Los Angeles, Cliff and his crew marketed and shipped safety products to fire and police departments as well as city, county and state governments across the country. KC Specialty Products closed in 2011 after 14 years of operations, when Cliff returned to the auto industry as a Business Development Manager for Mercedes-Benz of Beverly Hills, later joining the Sage Auto Group (Mercedes-Benz of Valencia) where he is currently the Fixed Operations Manager for the group of eight dealerships in the Los Angeles area.
Cliff and his wife Karen, both second generation Californians, have been married for 24 years and live in West Los Angeles.
Steve Leach is the President and co-owner of Numatic Engineering, a local distributor of industrial automation products, including robotics. The company’s primary business is helping USA-based manufacturing companies implement automation technology to remain competitive. Numatic Engineering is located in Sun Valley. It is a second-generation family business celebrating its 60th anniversary, 1955-2015.
Steve was born in Southern California and has resided in Santa Clarita since 1984. He has been married for to his wife, Debbie, for 26 years. They have three children ages 18, 21, and 23. His daughter, Kelsie, was Miss Santa Clarita Valley in 2013.
Mr. Leach has been involved with the community through his many years of support by coaching Hart Baseball/Softball and AYSO Soccer teams. With his personal outdoor interests, Steve has financially supported the Sheriff’s Department Search & Rescue Team through their annual fundraising golf tournament. Steve is looking forward to directly supporting the Sherriff’s Foundation in their efforts to help provide the critical finances and resources for the Sheriff’s Department and community of the Santa Clarita Valley.
